Gelati Party!!

Happy Australia Day, I hope at least some of you got to sleep in and have a wonderful relaxing day ahead.  If you haven't been to visit my special occasion page yet, have a look at my cheese and vegemite pinwheel scone recipe.
Speaking of recipes I promised you gelati made from the beautiful strawberries that we picked last Saturday, so here it is..............soooo easy.

STRAWBERRY GELATI

500g strawberries
1 cup icing sugar
300g thickened cream

Blitz the strawberries and the icing sugar together in a blender or food processor until they become a smooth puree.
Add the cream and blitz again until well combined.
Place in a 2litre ice cream or airtight container and freeze overnight.

Enjoy!
NB- This recipe is for real strawberry lovers, it has an intense strawberry flavour, if you prefer more of a creamy ice cream just add more cream or less of the strawberry puree.

Strawberry fields forever!!

Today was a big day.  We all went on a family picnic to Hahndorf and then went strawberry picking at the Beerenberg Farm.  This was so much fun.  I did take my camera along but being in a mad rush this morning to get my place ready for an open inspection today, and then a mad rush out of the door I left the memory card at home. DOH!  The good news is you can buzz over to http://www.bananarunkin.blogspot.com/ for pics of the day.  Fortunately mamie girl was more prepared for snaps than I was.  You can also see a picture of me with my strawberries and my unusually pouty lips (I don't know what went on there, maybe they were all plumped up at the sight of the berries LOL)
Anyhow I did manage to take a photo of the ruby red and extremely sweet little jewels when we got home.
Stay tuned in the next few days I will be making a delicious strawberry gelato.....yum
Keep smiling, enjoy the rest of the weekend Buzzee xx

We hit the beach!

I woke up this morning and it was such a beautiful day, that I thought it might be great to go to the beach with the boys, take a walk, collect some shells and maybe even build a sandcastle.  We had a great time and it was nice to just do something out of the ordinary on the spur of the moment.  Of course I took the camera along so that I could share with you a little piece of heaven which is practically on my doorstep.
After the beach I took the boys to a bakery for breakfast.  What a great start to the day.  We love school holidays.

Birthday Boy!

The 30th of December was my eldest son James' birthday.  Yes so close to Christmas, that wasn't great timing, but he did insist on arriving in this world two weeks early, so what can you do??  They come when they come.
Anyhow, this year we did not do a party, he went out for the day for a boy's day out with his dad and a couple of friends.  Whilst he was out I decided that it would be nice to do a last minute surprise dinner for him, so Joshua and I decided that we would set the table with skulls (he is into all that kooky stuff) We googled some skull pictures and made them into placemats and laminated them, and I put some red led lights on the table and put his skeleton toy in the middle of the table.  I also made a great marble vanilla/choc cake and decorated it with skull candles that I found at the local supermarket.  We ate one of James' favourite meals, schnitzel and curly fries (like they have at the hogs breath cafe), and we ate by candlelight.  He loved it.  He said it was one of the best birthdays ever.  It just goes to show that it's not all about the bells and whistles, just about good food, good company surrounded by people who love you.
Happy Birthday James, we love you xx

Hey there!

Hey all you fellow bloggers out there.  I am a blogging virgin, this is my very first time so go easy on me.  I don't even know if anyone will even read this, but it's still fun to do.
First I will introduce myself, my name is Ann  but I am otherwise known as buzzee or buzzee bee, I have a wonderful partner called Peter, otherwise known as the bear and two beautiful boys, James- 10 and Joshua - 3.  I am the queen bee in this little hive ( and I do mean little) but more about that subject a little later.
Here is the latest photo that I have taken of the two little bees.  This was taken just before christmas and by the way I hope you all had a great christmas and may 2011 be all that you dream and more.
Keep smiling!!  Catch you later, buzzee
